Reality of a Full Time Job & Lack of Sleep
So as some of you may know I finished University last year and entered the real world of work... I know scary!
To my great pleasure I was able to snap up a full time job in the NHS at the end of last year and was thrown into a world of working 5 days and having a 2 day weekend.
As you could imagine this was difficult for a uni student whose sleeping pattern had consisted of late night partying *cough* I actually mean late night binge of Netflix and food *cough*.
So luckily enough for me I was given the opportunity to help this! I engaged with a company called ResMed who kindly gave me the opportunity to trial their new product called the S+.
This product is designed to monitor and help improve your sleep, it does this by tracking your breathing whilst you sleep. The cool fact about this as well is that is done through no contact at all and to be honest it's very interesting to see how your sleep is affected through the night.
The S+ comes as a cubed device which is placed in a stand (which can be removed. It's purpose is actually to help the placement of the product to better connect and recognise your breathing pattern whilst you sleep.
The product also comes with it's own charging kit which has a double USB port so that you can also charge your phone at the same time as both the product and your phone will need to be connected through Bluetooth and the S+ app throughout the night.
The app plays a vital role in the whole process of monitoring your sleep. You are able to access your sleep history, advice, charts, your only personal profile and many more features!
Your S+ mentor will start to give you advice after every sleep that you record, for instance on my last sleep I didn't do too well on my deep sleep chart so the advice given was to target that specific issue.
Other great features include the mind clear where you can record all the things you need to remember for the next day so as to clear your head before bed! This has to be one of the most useful features of a sleeping app/ product I have ever used.
I've been using ResMed for about a week and a half now and for the first couple of days the S+ was still gathering data on my sleeping pattern before it was able to give me clear advice tailored to me. But since then I have been given very handy tips on getting a better sleep. It has been incredibly interesting in seeing how my sleep has differed depending on how much caffeine, alcohol, exercise and stress that I have experienced throughout the day.
Here's the results of my first week with the S+...
By being able to view how much sleep I have actually got each night I have been able to work out what has worked to help me get to sleep at night especially on those mornings where I need to be in work for 8.30am.
I also liked how it split the sleep up into categories which are explained in the app and what each type of sleep does for your body.
To check out this awesome product head over to ResMeds website where you can find more information on this.
I'd like to thank ResMed for the opportunity of reviewing this product and sincerely believe it is a great help for anyone dealing with sleeping issues as I have found it helps you build a steady sleeping routine.
Have you ever tried anything similar to this?
Do you have any tips for those of us who struggle to fall asleep?
